Successful test, measurement and control engineering business are looking for a systems engineer to support new contracts and growing our technical team. Due to strong sales performance, TBG Solutions is looking to increase its engineering team, which has been built around engineering bespoke test equipment for key industries. This new role is key to achieving its success in delivering high quality engineering solutions to some of the world’s most prestigious engineering businesses. This role will report directly to the engineering manager and forms a key part of the engineering team.

Key requirements

  • 3 years experience in automated test, measurement and/or LabVIEW
  • System design and specification
  • Creation of schematic drawings and diagrams.
  • Software design and development in National Instruments LabVIEW.
  • System test and fault finding

Essential Criteria

  • Team player with drive to progress to senior level.
  • Knowledge of National Instruments LabVIEW.
  • Proven track record of systems engineering.
  • Ability to create engineering drawings.
  • Ability to create complete system level designs.
  • Sociable style with good drive and dedication.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Able to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Motivation and a desire to contribute to a dynamic business.
  • Solid ability to work to tight timescales to deliver projects on time.
  • Able to interpret customer requirements.

  • Experience using C/C++
  • Previous experience of the aerospace and defence industry

The successful candidate will be tasked with taking engineering requirements from customers and designing bespoke mechanical solutions that are able to be manufactured within time and cost constraints. The role will involve the creation of 3D models and drawing packs to allow the manufacturing team to bring to life your designs. This important role will provide an opportunity to produce and work on a wide range of bespoke products and test equipment. The role will also involve visits alongside our service and support team to customer sites to perform in-field test and repair activities. Candidates must have a history of success in similar roles, be self-motivated and have a passion for engineering and self-improvement.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop 3D/2D Drawings and documentation packs from high level requirements
  • Creation and management of BOMs
  • Creation of work instructions
  • Technical support to production team and suppliers
  • Component specification
  • Version control and part numbering
  • Design risk assessments and conformance

Key Requirements

  • Good working knowledge of SolidWorks software packages
  • Experience in working within an Industrial/Engineering environment is essential
  • To have an awareness / understanding of manufacturing processes
  • The ability to work on own initiative when required and contribute as a team player
  • A basic level of PC skills mainly Excel and Outlook
  • Experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to interpret customer requirements
  • Good communication skills.
  • Able to work as part of a multi skilled team.
  • Sociable style with good drive and dedication.

Non Essential (Desirable) Criteria

  • Test and automation background.
  • Previous experience of the aerospace and defence industry.
  • Proven track record of bespoke test equipment.
  • Experience of CE assessment

The successful candidate will be tasked with taking engineering requirements from customers and designing bespoke test solutions that are able to me manufactured within time and cost constraints. This will involve the use of both commercial off the shelf components as well as custom designed interfaces. The role will involve the creation of electrical schematics, layouts, general assemblies and fault finding to allow the manufacturing team to bring to life your designs. This important role will provide an opportunity to design and engineer a wide range of bespoke products which allows our customers to benefit from our high quality engineered solutions. Candidates must have a history of success in similar roles, be self-motivated and have a passion for engineering and delivering projects on time.

Key requirements

  • Experience Designing Test Equipment, automation or control systems.
  • Experience of panel, cabinet and rack layout and design
  • Ability to Create Schematic Drawings and Diagrams.
  • Experience of System Test and Fault Finding
  • Electrical Design to Complete System Level.
  • Skilled using Eplan

  • Experience with Rittal hardware
  • Previous experience of working within one of the following – Aerospace, Defence, Oil & Gas, Automotive or similar industry
  • Proven track record of designing bespoke test equipment
  • Creation of PCB layouts
